ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

IMIA MIA FOUNDATION was registered in 2009 as a mobilization tool to spearhead innovative and practical approaches to mobilizing resources for common development.
The philosophy of MIA MIA is based on voluntary and self-help initiatives. We believe that our communities have untapped resources which can be used to support community development. MIA MIA also believes in collective responsibility for improving our community.
In the past, the main focus of fundraising efforts to support various Muslim activities in Uganda was external donors but with shift in the world trends, there was a need to change the strategy because it was becoming unreliable.

Therefore a venture in local fundraising was decided to be taken on after a strategic workshop that was organized by Muslim brothers in Kenya to train various Muslim leaders from various organizations {Uganda} in strategic planning who later proceeded to Kenya and visited various projects they had and amongst them was the one hundred shilling foundation.

Therefore when they returned, they also decided to start the foundation in late 2009 but they instead named it MIA MIA FOUNDATION LTD as a mobilization tool with the sole objective of creating a central fund from reliable sources to serve the Muslim community in Uganda.
The foundation is now running and its funds are generally collected from willing Muslims in Uganda who sacrifice and save 100Ugshs daily minimally and more who later contribute monthly, Quarterly, Bi-annually, annually, and also on a weekly base. The funds are intended to finance and uplift the social, economic, and religious ways of living of the Muslims in Uganda.
